INTRODUCTION TO PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION
OF A PERSONAL COLLECTION

Conservation Science Division, The Fine Arts Department of Thailand
Mrs. Chiraporn Aranyanark is presently consulting and working with the Siam Society to appraise the state of the Society’s collection and recommend the conservation and preservation methods needed to improve the physical and environmental conditions in the Siam Society.
Khun Chiraporn is a prominent conservationist and has graciously extended an offer to conduct a workshop for our members.
We realize that many of our members have personal collections and this will be a rare opportunity to learn about the proper care of valued artifacts, art objects and treasured collections from an eminent authority.
Some of the topics she will cover include:
Deterioration of silverware, basketry, books and paper materials, etc.
Correct care and handling of the materials
Simple repair of paper and books
Storage of books, documents and works on paper
Storage and care of photographs and negatives
Environmental control in small collections
Pest management
