“The Piano Quartets”
Mozart Piano Quartet KV 478
Mozart Piano Quartet KV 493

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 – 7 pm.
At the Siam Society, Bangkok

Now considered to be amongst the most popular of chamber music works, Mozart's two piano quartets were initially conceived as parts of a set of three suggested by his publisher, fellow-composer, and Masonic lodge brother, Franz Anton Hoffmeister. Piano trios, such as those by Franz Joseph Haydn and Mozart himself were extremely popular at the time, but adding a viola to the mix was thought distinctly controversial. Mozart, however, produced two searing masterpieces and cemented the piano quartet as an accepted mainstream genre that would be taken up by other great composers such as Brahms, Schumann, Dvorak and Faure.

Silpakorn Summer Music School is proud to present faculty members Pornphan Banternghansa - piano, Leo Phillips, - violin, Tasana Nagavajara - viola, and Kitikhun Sodprasert -cello, to perform both of these great works in concert at the Siam Society, Wednesday March 27, at 7pm.
