The Siam Society under Royal Patronage proudly presents “The French Music Box” (“La boite à musique française”), a choral concert of 18 French songs from the Renaissance to the present, performed by the Thailand Philharmonic Chamber Choir (Henri Pompidor, conductor).

From the French “music box” comes the “chanson française”, one of the most popular secular vocal genres. This performance intends to follow its evolution from the sixteenth century until the present. It will focus on a large repertoire of French chansons from the Renaissance period (Clement Janequin, Pierre Passereau, Guillaume Costeley) to the 20th century (Charles Trenet, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud).
