Royal Patron

HIS MAJESTY KING BHUMIBHOL ADULYADEJ

The Siam Society has always enjoyed the enthusiastic support of the Royal Family. As has been seen, its first patron was Crown Prince Vachiravudh, and the tradition of close ties with the Society since maintained. HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Society's current Honorary President, frequently graces the Society with her presence at its various functions, and is also a Vice-Patron, as are Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

On 22 June 1994, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously presided over the royal consecration ceremony for a Gold Footprint of the Lord Buddha, which had been cast by the Siam Society for presentation to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty's sixtieth birthday anniversary in 1992.

His Majesty graciously granted permission for the Gold Footprint of the Lord Buddha to be placed in the Monthientham Hall in the grounds of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which is open every Buddhist day and Sunday for Buddhists to pay homage.
