Saturday, 15th December 2018
Leader: Khun Supanut Hatchaleelaha, Program officer

Chalerm Rattanakosin National Park is located some 230 kilometres from Bangkok. It is the smallest of Kanchanaburi province’s five national parks. Within its 59 square kilometers, spectacular caves, waterfalls and peaceful forest trails are among the park highlights. This park was set up in 1980 and initially called Tham Than Lod which means a stream beneath the cave. It was renamed as Chalerm Rattanakosin to commemorate the 1982 bicentenary celebrations of the Chakri Dynasty and the founding of Bangkok.

The Siam Society will organize a Saturday hike in Chalerm Rattanakosin National Park in Kanchanaburi province on Saturday,15 December 2018. The group will leave the Siam Society at 7.00 a.m. and is expected to return to the Society on the same day at approximately 9:45 p.m.

This trip is an excursion for pleasure, providing an opportunity for members to enjoy a hike in a forest environment. It is a good place to study nature and for energetic hikers as well as less-energetic hikers to spend a special Saturday. So, here is your chance to enjoy a part of nature and it is truly not to be your usual weekend.

Physical recommendation

This trip is suitable for everyone in good health. We will walk along the nature trail through the scenic evergreen forest. The trail will be rocky in places, and at one point there is a steep stairway.  The trail gets gradually more serious.  Members can go all the way up to the peak - Tham Than Lod Yai, or just go as far as they want, rest and return.
